Shaft recommendations follow Machinery's Handbook, 29th Edition, Table 14, page 2383. Housing recommendations follow Table 15, page 2384. Built-in trade-number dimensions cover common ISO 15 style metric radial bearing series and common manufacturer designation conventions; manual dimensions remain available for bearings outside the local catalog. SKF C, C0, Pu, speed, and mass values are included where exact SKF catalog rows have been loaded.

SKF and THK guidance emphasize the same design rule: the ring rotating relative to load generally needs a tighter fit, while the stationary ring is often selected for easier displacement or assembly. Verify final fits against the bearing manufacturer, bearing clearance class, thermal conditions, hollow shafts, thin-wall/light-alloy housings, and measured bearing tolerances.

Notes

  • Reference speed is the heat-based comparison speed.
  • Limiting speed is the practical maximum speed for the bearing design.
  • If the operating speed is above the reference speed but below the limiting speed, thermal and lubrication checks matter.
  • If the operating speed is above the limiting speed, choose a different bearing or get manufacturer guidance.
